SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE and THANKSGIVING
It is with great sadness and immense gratitude for an abundant, well-lived life, that the family of Doug Wood announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, January 14, in his 82nd year. Doug leaves behind his wife of fifty-five years, Sheelagh, his two children, Gillian Wood (Mike Biggin) and Colin Wood, (Lili Wood), of whom he was immensely proud, and his four wonderful grandsons, Emmett, Kieran, Joseluis and Lucas, on whom he doted unabashedly. He is survived by his brother, Don (Bertha) and his family, his sister-in-law, Maureen (Allister) and their family and many cherished nieces and nephews on both sides. He loved all of his family deeply and welcomed them all with enthusiasm and delight. Doug was a longtime serving member of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, retiring as a Major and Deputy Commanding Officer. He later served on the RHLI Senate and Dave MacInnis and Larry McMorran were his lifelong army buddies.
Donations in Doug's memory may be directed to St. Paul's United Church, World Vision Canada or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude for the many offers of help and gestures of love and support over the past weeks.
