UNITED CHURCH WOMEN (U.C.W.)

What we do, and how we do it !

Four units comprise St. Paul's UCW (United Church Women).
While three units meet one evening per month,
the other unit meets one afternoon per month.
At our meetings, we worship together; we support each other;
and we socialize and have fun together.
We also gather together twice a year; once in September
for a pot-luck which we share with neighbouring UCWs
and again on an evening in May to close the season and worship together.
At each of these meetings
we try to have a special speaker share their area of expertise
or a special project he/she has participated in.

To fund the various local and outreach endeavors, we do the following:

Members of the various units support and serve our congregation through involvement in:

Annual dinner for the Celestial Singers and Sunbeams
Dinner for McMaster students through Chaplaincy services
Annual Congregation Meeting and the Candlelight Service Reception
Coffee Hours
Visiting Seniors and volunteering in Retirement and Nursing Homes
Supporting Wesley Urban Ministries
Collecting Supplies for Inasmuch House
Making and donating knitted/crocheted goods e.g. Baby layettes, afghans, lap rugs, toques etc.
Collecting and delivering pop can tabs, soup labels and used eyeglasses and stamps
The annual Fiesta Craft and Marketplace
To date, making and donating more than 7000 children's school workbooks
which are used locally and in outreach areas
Volunteering at the Out of the Cold Program in Hamilton
